The time has come to install a new gas boiler in your home. This could be for many different reasons, but the result is that you don’t know how to choose the right boiler.
Types of Gas Boilers
There are three types of gas boiler, combi, conventional and system:
- Combi – aka combination boilers, are very popular with a compact size and are easy to install. This makes them a great option for small houses or small areas the boiler needs to be installed. They are highly efficient, only heating the water you use. As long as you have good mains pressure, you will have a steady water flow. Although it is not great for power showers, and if you have many taps on simultaneously, you will have reduced flow in each until one or more is turned off.
- Conventional – this is the boiler type which is known as heat only and needs storage tanks for hot and cold water. Thus skype can heat a lot of water and can be great for larger homes.
- System – this is the most complex gas boiler; it works similarly to conventional boilers. However, they require less space as they don’t need both hot and cold water tanks, and the components are more advanced.
Fuel Efficiency
So you have chosen the type of boiler, and now you have to look at all the brands out there. If fuel efficiency and saving money is your goal, look for boilers with an A rating or higher.
